Can you withdraw cash for free in Mexico?
Mostly no. Most bank ATMs in Mexico charge foreign cards a fee. All banks charge a fee, usually MXN 30–80; the amount is shown on screen before you withdraw.

Should I pay in MXN or in my home currency?
If the ATM offers to charge you in your home currency, always choose MXN (without conversion). The ATM's own conversion (DCC) often costs 5–10%.
How do I avoid ATM fees in Mexico?
Fees are charged mainly by: BBVA (MXN 150–200), Banamex (MXN 30–31), HSBC (MXN 74–80), BanBajío (MXN 23–30). The fee is shown on screen before the withdrawal, so you can still cancel. Use the ATMs marked as free on the map. Avoid Euronet and other independent operators, especially at airports and in tourist areas. Withdraw a larger amount once rather than small amounts several times, and check before your trip what your own bank charges for foreign withdrawals.
